Mountainbrook Village is a 1,659-home 55+ active adult community set at the base of the Superstition Mountains in Gold Canyon, Arizona, roughly 30-45 minutes east of Phoenix just beyond Apache Junction. Built between 1989 and 2002 by Shea Homes and UDC Homes, it is fully built out today and trades entirely on the resale market, with a steady flow of homes changing hands year-round. Home styles are single-level stucco with tile roofs, offered as single-family homes ranging from about 1,152 to 2,600 sq ft (two to four bedrooms, two to three baths, two-car garages) and attached duplex villas from roughly 1,375 to 1,591 sq ft (two bedrooms, two baths). The location is the other big draw. Mountainbrook Village sits in the upper Sonoran Desert at the foot of the Superstitions, with nearly every home enjoying mountain or golf-course views. Lost Dutchman State Park, Canyon Lake, and the Apache Trail are all minutes away, while Mesa, Gilbert, and Chandler — with their full slate of shopping, dining, and medical care — are a 20 to 30 minute drive west on US-60. Residents describe it as small, quiet, and a little remote, but still close to everything, and the mix of full-time residents and winter snowbirds (one-month minimum rentals are permitted) gives the community a social, seasonal rhythm.
