Mission Royale is a well-established 55+ community in Casa Grande, Arizona, set along the I-10 corridor roughly an hour from both downtown Phoenix and downtown Tucson. The community consists of 1,292 single-family homes woven around the Greg Nash-designed 18-hole Mission Royale Golf Club, giving many residents fairway views and year-round access to golf in the Sonoran Desert. Originally built by Meritage Homes (formerly Hancock Homes) starting in 2003, construction has continued in later phases with D.R. Horton and Starlight Homes adding new product, including current new construction at The Enclave at Mission Royale Estate Series. Floor plans generally run from roughly 1,100 to over 2,400 square feet, with single-level Mediterranean-style exteriors, great rooms, covered patios, two-car garages, and a solar option on newer homes. The 55+ section of Mission Royale is deed-restricted and is part of a larger master-planned area that also includes an all-ages family neighborhood; the adult clubhouse and amenities are reserved for residents of the age-restricted village. The hub of social life is a 15,000-square-foot clubhouse with a restaurant, state-of-the-art fitness center, aerobics and dance studio, billiards and card rooms, library, computer lab, craft studios, and a grand ballroom used for dances, showtime performances, and community events. Outside, residents have two heated resort-style swimming pools, a whirlpool spa, a resistance pool, lighted tennis and pickleball courts, bocce ball, and walking and biking trails threading through the community. A full-time activities director keeps the calendar busy with more than 30 clubs and interest groups — ballroom dancing, billiard league, book club, bunco, euchre, fishing, hiking, line dancing, water volleyball, quilting, table tennis, beading, RV group, Fun & Fit, Java Time, and Ladies PoKeNo, among others. The vibe skews friendly and budget-conscious rather than glitzy: residents describe it as a quality golf retirement community with solid basic amenities and a low-key, neighborly feel, often favorably comparing it to Sundance in Buckeye. The community has earned recognition from 55places as one of the top 55+ communities in the country, helped by consistently strong resident reviews and ongoing golf course improvements under newer ownership. Location is a big part of the pitch. Mission Royale sits directly across the street from The Promenade at Casa Grande, a 75-store shopping center, and is minutes from Safeway, Fry's, Food City, Walmart, Walgreens, and CVS. Banner Casa Grande Medical Center, Hu Hu Kam Memorial Hospital, Florence Hospital, and Mountain Vista Medical Center provide healthcare nearby. I-10 access puts Phoenix Sky Harbor roughly 50–60 minutes away, downtown Tucson under an hour to the south, and I-8 within 10 minutes for the scenic drive west to San Diego. Nearby attractions include Casa Grande Ruins National Monument, Casa Grande Neon Sign Park, Dave White Regional Park, and Peart Park, with additional golf at Springfield Golf Resort, Oakwood, Whirlwind, and SunBird just a short drive away.
