Los Prados is a guard-gated, master-planned community tucked into the northwest corner of the Las Vegas Valley, built around a resident-owned 18-hole executive golf course. Developed by U.S. Homes beginning in 1986, the community grew through the late 1990s and early 2000s to its planned total of 1,358 homes spread across 22 villages. Four of those villages — Barrington Bay, Castle Bay Shores, Cedar Point, and Colwood Place — are deed-restricted 55+ age-qualified neighborhoods, each with its own sub-association and monthly assessment on top of the base HOA. The rest of Los Prados is all-ages, making this one of the few Las Vegas communities where retirees and families coexist inside the same guard gates. The heart of the community is the Los Prados Golf Course and clubhouse complex. The par-70 course, designed by Jeff Hardin and opened in 1987, stretches just under 6,000 yards and is owned and operated by the Los Prados Community Association itself — an unusual arrangement that gives residents preferential tee times and pricing on a course that's also open to the public. Homes back up to the fairways throughout the neighborhood, and golf cart travel to the clubhouse is part of daily life for many residents. The clubhouse houses multi-purpose rooms, a library, the full-service Restaurant at Los Prados (serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner), and the 19th Hole Lounge. Banquet facilities overlooking the 10th tee and 18th green host weddings and community events. Outdoor amenities include two swimming pools near the clubhouse, lighted tennis courts, pickleball, shuffleboard, and a recreation facility. A standout feature is the on-site RV lot with 205 dedicated spaces near the back gate — a rare perk for an urban community. Walking and biking trails wind through the 430-acre property past mature landscaping and scenic lakes and ponds. The four 55+ villages maintain their own community amenities and activity calendars in addition to the master association's offerings. Social life is active and deeply community-driven. Resident-led clubs include Book Club, Bowling, Bunco, Car Club, Golf (including the Los Prados Niners women's golf group), Library, Lions Club, Mah Jongg, Melody Makers, quilting, and water aerobics, with regular organized events throughout the year. The Board of Directors meets monthly in the clubhouse, and the resident-owned governance model gives homeowners direct voice in how the community and golf course are run. Homes are resale only (no new construction) and range widely — from about 1,083 to 3,636 square feet, with 2–4 bedrooms and attached garages. Single-family homes dominate, with some attached townhomes and villa-style residences mixed in. Many homes back directly onto the golf course or overlook ponds. Mature trees and established landscaping give the neighborhood a settled, shaded character that's unusual for desert Las Vegas. The location puts residents roughly 20 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip and within easy reach of Centennial Hills shopping, Floyd Lamb Park at Tule Springs, Gilcrease Orchard, and Red Rock Canyon. Zip code 89130, with two guard-gated entrances on Lone Mountain Road (main) and Ann Road (back).
