Belcaro

Belcaro is a 47-acre, guard-gated 55+ community of 275 homes tucked into Valencia, California — roughly 40 miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles in the Santa Clarita Valley. Built by New Urban West Inc. between 2003 and 2008, the community was designed from the ground up for active adults who want a resort-style lifestyle without leaving the Los Angeles area. Homes run from the high $700Ks into the $900Ks, with a median right around $825K. The community is organized into two collections. The Greens features detached single-family homes from roughly 1,673 to 2,430 square feet, many with courtyard entries, two or three bedrooms, and main-floor primary suites. The Liberty collection wraps the perimeter with attached homes from about 1,830 to 2,500 square feet, including a floor plan with a detached casita that works beautifully as a guest suite, home office, or space for extended family. Multiple pedestrian gates open to the San Francisquito trail, which runs parallel to the community and connects to more than 100 miles of paved Santa Clarita trails used for walking, jogging, biking, and skating. Residents frequently gather at the back gates before and after trail walks. A full-time activities director organizes a deep calendar of clubs and events, including art classes, bingo, book club, bocce, exercise classes, a garden club, Happy Hour Fridays, Mah Jongg, movie nights, poker, and travel groups. The vibe skews toward the younger, still-working-or-just-retired end of the 55+ spectrum — residents describe it as quiet and private but full of life. Location is a major selling point. Belcaro sits just west of McBean Parkway and south of Copper Hill Drive, a few miles from I-5 for easy access to Los Angeles and travel. The Westfield Valencia Town Center is minutes away, with Tesoro Village shopping center, North Park Village Square, Chesebrough Park, and West Creek Park all nearby. The Santa Clara River and mountain views to the north and south give the setting a more open, natural feel than its suburban location suggests. Six Flags Magic Mountain is about five miles away, and Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital anchors the local medical scene.
