Trilogy at the Vineyards is a gated, age-restricted 55+ resort community in Brentwood, California, tucked among rolling vineyards, olive groves, and nature preserves in the shadow of Mount Diablo. Built by Shea Homes beginning in 2006 and closed out in 2024 at approximately 1,100 single-story single-family residences, the community has matured into one of the East Bay's most established active adult destinations. All homes were delivered with solar energy included — a signature of Shea's Trilogy brand — and floor plans across six original collections (Balearic, Amalfi, and others) range from roughly 1,465 to 3,854 square feet with two to four bedrooms and two- to three-car garages. The full-service Sawa Spa — open to the public as well as residents — offers massage, facials, nails, and other treatments with a five-star-resort feel. A full-time activities director keeps the calendar packed with nearly 100 clubs and activities, from yoga and tai chi to wine tastings, casino nights, trivia, concerts, book club, and an active women's golf group. An on-staff concierge is even available to help with dinner reservations around the Bay Area. Right next door is the 100+ acre Brentwood Golf Club, a 27-hole championship course designed by Ted Robinson Sr. Trilogy residents receive preferred pricing, access, and private golf cart provisions for members — making it effectively the community's home course without the full country-club cost. The setting is a major part of the appeal. The community is surrounded by a 3,500-acre nature preserve and thousands of acres of East Contra Costa vineyards and olive groves, with walking and biking trails weaving through the landscape. Views of Mount Diablo frame the community, and scenic day trips to wine country, the Delta, and the Sierra foothills are all within reach. Everyday shopping is just down the street at Town Centre Plaza (Safeway, CVS, banks, restaurants), with the walkable downtown of Brentwood a few minutes away. Oakland is about 45 minutes, and San Francisco and Sacramento each sit just over an hour away. Residents do note that East Contra Costa summers are genuinely hot (June–August), so home designs emphasize shaded patios, solar, and indoor amenities for the warm months. Trilogy at the Vineyards tends to attract buyers looking for the full resort-club lifestyle rather than a quiet retirement enclave — if Club Los Meganos, the spa, pickleball, bocce, wine-country socializing, and a stacked activities calendar are what you're after, the value of the HOA fee lands very differently than it would for someone who rarely uses amenities. Reviews consistently praise the quality of Shea's construction, the grounds, and the upscale resort feel; the most common critique is that dues feel high if you don't plan to use the club, and that Brentwood itself hasn't grown its restaurant scene as fast as some residents expected.
