Meadowlands Golf Club

Meadowlands Golf Club is a golf course community in Calabash, North Carolina, built around an 18-hole Willard Byrd-designed championship golf course. Though frequently listed on 55+ community directories and heavily populated by retirees, Meadowlands is not deed-restricted — the neighborhood is home to a mix of retirees, second-home owners, and some younger families who are drawn to the same coastal, golf-oriented lifestyle. For buyers who care about the lifestyle more than the age restriction, that mix is often part of the appeal. The community sits on the north side of Calabash, just off Calabash Road NW at Meadowlands Trail, tucked between the quaint seafood town of Calabash and the beaches of Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach. Construction began in 2005 and the neighborhood reached effective buildout around 2021, with roughly 450 single-family homes when complete. Resale homes range from about 1,430 to 2,711 square feet — typically two to five bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half baths, and two-car garages — with floor plans that lean heavily toward first-floor master suites, open-concept living, Carolina rooms, and gourmet kitchens. A handful of infill lots remain where local custom builders (including Fox Homes) build new construction to suit, so "new build" is technically still available even though the community is essentially built out. At the center of the community is the Meadowlands Golf Club clubhouse, which includes a pro shop, café and bar, exercise room, lounge, outdoor resort-style pool and patio, pool tables, a library, event space, and multi-purpose meeting rooms. Golf membership at the championship course is optional and purchased separately from HOA dues — residents are not required to join. The course itself is known for rolling fairways, scenic water features, and well-kept conditions, and the neighborhood's streets weave around fairways, ponds, and mature landscaping. Residents organize around golf, swimming, fitness classes, and community social events held throughout the year, with walking and biking trails running through the community. Location is a major draw. Historic Calabash — the self-proclaimed "Seafood Capital of the World" — is minutes away, North Myrtle Beach is a 10–15 minute drive south, and downtown Myrtle Beach sits just beyond that, giving residents easy access to dozens of additional golf courses, waterfront dining, and entertainment. The Atlantic beaches at Sunset Beach and Ocean Isle Beach are a short drive, and Wilmington is less than an hour north. Day-to-day shopping is close at hand in Calabash and Shallotte (Food Lion, Lowes Foods, Belk, Lowe's), and medical care is available at Novant Health Brunswick Medical Center and McLeod Seacoast Hospital.
