The Enclave at the Fairways

The Enclave at the Fairways is an intimate, gated 55+ community of 349 single-family homes tucked into the heart of Lakewood in Ocean County, New Jersey. Built by the Kokes Organization between 2005 and 2012 as the family's flagship active adult community, the Enclave sits directly across from its sister community, the original Fairways, and just around the corner from Eagle Ridge Golf Club — a semi-private 27-hole championship course where Enclave residents receive reduced golf fees (the course itself is not part of the community). Homes here are larger than what you'll find in most New Jersey 55+ communities. The eight Energy Star-certified floor plans range from 1,699 to roughly 3,048 square feet of living space, with two or three bedrooms, two to three-and-a-half baths, two-car garages, and nine-foot ceilings as standard. Two of the models include a loft; others offer a walk-up attic. Original build features include gourmet kitchens with granite counters, ceramic tile floors, and GE appliances, with optional covered porches, fireplaces, studies, sunrooms, and bay windows. Many homes back to scenic ponds and landscaped waterfalls that thread through the community. The social heart of the community is The Club at the Enclave, a recently updated 10,000-square-foot clubhouse. Inside you'll find a fitness center, a glass-enclosed heated indoor pool for year-round swimming, an arts and crafts studio, a library with computer workstations, separate card and billiards rooms, and a great room that hosts cultural seminars, theater productions, and dances (and doubles as a media room with a large-screen TV on quieter nights). A catering kitchen supports community events. Outside, residents gather at the outdoor pool and patio, tennis courts, bocce courts, and horseshoe pits. A full-time activities director keeps the calendar full, organizing aerobics, bingo, chess, line dancing, mahjongg, the Da Vinci Social Club, and dozens of other clubs and interest groups. Residents consistently describe the community as warm, well-maintained, and welcoming to newcomers. Location is a real strength. The Enclave sits just off Massachusetts Avenue, five miles west of Garden State Parkway exit 89 and minutes from Routes 70 and 9. That puts malls, hospitals, grocery stores, and medical offices roughly 15 minutes away, the Jersey Shore beaches about 30 minutes east, and Six Flags Great Adventure a short drive north in Jackson — perfect for visiting grandchildren. Atlantic City and Newark are each under an hour away, and both Newark Liberty and Atlantic City International airports are within comfortable reach for travel. The community has appreciated significantly since original sellout — originals sold in the $310K–$400K range, while current resales generally trade in the $600K–$800K range, with upper-end homes asking into the $800K+ bracket. All homes are resale; the community was fully built out in 2012 with no new construction available.
