Country Walk of Lake Ridge is a 55+ active adult community tucked into the Whiting section of Manchester Township in Ocean County, New Jersey. Developed by the Kokes Organization starting in 2004, the community spans 199-200 acres — with more than 60 percent preserved as open woodland and meadows — and comprises 304 energy-efficient homes: 188 detached ranch-style single-family homes and 116 attached courtyard (carriage) homes. Homes are single-level, most with two bedrooms and two baths (the smallest courtyard model is a one-bedroom), one or two-car garages, and range from roughly 964 to 2,441 square feet. Interior finishes include gourmet kitchens, designer baths, nine-foot ceilings, plush carpeting, covered entries, and ceramic tile foyers. Attic storage is included in many models. The social heart of the community is a 7,600-square-foot clubhouse (some sources list 7,800) with a full-time activities director who curates a calendar of dances, movies, and social events year-round. The ballroom features a cozy fireplace and TV for community gatherings. Indoor amenities include a well-equipped exercise room with separate changing rooms and showers, a modern kitchen, a library, a billiards room, a card room, and an arts and crafts room. Natural gas service is provided by New Jersey Natural Gas, and the community is on OCUA Central sewer and Jersey Central Power & Light electric. Location is a strong draw: the community sits just off Pinewalk Keswick Road, tucked between adjacent neighborhoods and the Pine Barrens preservation land, away from highway noise but only 15 minutes from the Garden State Parkway. Downtown Whiting shops, restaurants, pharmacies, and professional offices are nearby; grocery and drug stores are within five minutes. Ocean County Mall is about 20 minutes away, Jersey Shore beaches roughly 30 minutes, and Philadelphia, Atlantic City, and Manhattan are all within a reasonable drive for day trips. The overall vibe is affordable, friendly, and low-key — an intimate-scale community with meaningful amenities and a surprisingly active social calendar for its size.
