Concordia is one of Central New Jersey's largest and most established 55+ active adult communities, set on 440 beautifully manicured acres in Monroe Township, Middlesex County. Since breaking ground in 1982, the community has grown to 1,757 homes and approximately 3,000 residents, creating a genuine small-town feel inside a secure gated enclave. Built out over nearly two decades (1982-2000), Concordia is a resale-only community with a wide mix of home styles that's relatively unusual for a single 55+ development — four condominium floor plans from roughly 950 to 1,650 square feet, six attached townhome and ranch duplex models from 1,058 to 1,600 square feet, and four detached ranch-style single-family models from 1,500 to 1,700 square feet. Residents have long described Concordia as one of the more genuinely *active* 55+ communities in New Jersey, with a strong volunteer-driven culture. Concordia is professionally managed by FirstService Residential (which took over from self-management in August 2023), and the board and property manager were voted Number One in New Jersey for 2025 by the Community Association Institute. The community is gated 24/7 with a guard at the entrance. Location is a major draw. Concordia sits just 2.5 miles from Exit 8A of the NJ Turnpike with easy access to Routes 130 and 33, putting New York City and Philadelphia within roughly an hour and Atlantic City about 90 minutes away. The Concordia Shopping Center is adjacent and walkable — residents have keyed access — and a Stop & Shop is less than a mile away. Historic Princeton is about 20 minutes, and Newark Liberty International Airport is roughly 40 minutes. Concordia is one of a cluster of well-known Monroe Township adult communities that includes Clearbrook, The Ponds, Rossmoor, and Greenbriar at Whittingham, making the broader area a retirement hub with abundant services aimed at active adults.
