Renaissance at Monroe is a gated, 55+ active adult community set on more than 106 acres in southern Middlesex County, New Jersey, in the southwest part of Monroe Township. Built by Centex Homes between 2004 and 2010, the community features 348 single-family homes across eight floor plans — including the popular Siena II, Tivoli, Wellington, and Kensington models — ranging from 1,517 to 2,230 square feet with 2-3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and one- or two-car garages. Homes feature brick or stone front elevations, 9-foot ceilings, crown molding, gourmet kitchens with breakfast nooks, spa-style master bathrooms, gas fireplaces, and decorative columns. Some models offer sunrooms and lofts. The community is anchored by a 15,500-square-foot clubhouse that serves as the social center of daily life. Inside you'll find the Renaissance Café (a full-service on-site restaurant), a grand ballroom, library with community computers, card room, billiards room, arts and crafts studio, aerobics and dance studio, and a fully equipped fitness center. A full-time activities director coordinates an extensive calendar of social clubs, classes, and events, and monthly bus trips take residents into New York City, Atlantic City, and other popular destinations. Outdoor amenities include both an indoor pool with spa/jacuzzi and an outdoor swimming pool (plus a wading pool for visiting grandchildren), tennis courts, two bocce ball courts, two shuffleboard courts, a putting green, and a children's playground. The community sits on gently rolling terrain dotted with lakes and ponds, with quiet interior streets ideal for walking. Renaissance operates under a 55/48 age policy: at least one resident in each household must be 55 or older, and no resident may be under 48. This helps maintain the adult-community atmosphere while providing flexibility for younger spouses. Location is a major selling point. The community sits just off Route 33, less than 2 miles from Exit 8 of the New Jersey Turnpike and the I-95 Corridor. New York City and Philadelphia are each approximately one hour away, and an express bus to NYC runs along Route 33. Freehold Raceway Mall with 100+ stores, Quaker Bridge Mall, and plenty of dining and everyday shopping are all within easy reach. Jersey Shore beaches like Belmar and Point Pleasant are about 30 minutes east, and Six Flags Great Adventure is a similar drive. The surrounding landscape still includes working farmland and farm stands, giving the area a semi-rural feel despite the proximity to major highways.
