Covered Bridge is an established age-restricted 55+ condominium community in Manalapan Township, New Jersey, spread across 254 acres of former farmland in Monmouth County. Built by K. Hovnanian between 1972 and 1982, the community contains 1,557 units organized into two separate condominium associations — Covered Bridge 1 and Covered Bridge 2 — each operating its own clubhouse and amenity set, with slightly different HOA fee structures. Housing is almost entirely two-story condominium buildings with eight to ten units each, offering one- and two-bedroom floor plans from roughly 800 to 1,130 square feet. A smaller selection of one-story attached ranch-style townhomes at about 1,143 square feet rounds out the mix. Across the two amenity centers residents have access to a ballroom, performance/movie theater, arts and crafts studio, woodworking shop, card room, billiards room, game room with table tennis, library, computer room, and sauna. Outdoor facilities include bocce courts, four shuffleboard courts, a basketball court, horseshoe pits, a picnic area, gardening plots, and a koi pond. A full-time activities director coordinates a calendar that supports more than 50 active clubs and interest groups spanning bingo, book club, bowling, ceramics, chess, bus trips, line dancing, Zumba, meditation, and a long list of card and bocce leagues. Adjacent to the community, Pine Brook Golf Course — an 18-hole par-61 executive course — offers discounted rates for Monmouth County residents, along with a driving range practice net and pro shop that Covered Bridge residents can use. The community is not gated but operates a S.C.A.T. shuttle bus that takes residents to nearby supermarkets and the Freehold Raceway Mall. Covered Bridge sits directly on the Route 9 corridor in western Monmouth County, roughly 15 miles from the Jersey Shore beaches and 45 miles southwest of New York City. Residents are within walking distance of a New York City commuter bus stop, and major shopping, medical services, and doctors' offices are minutes away. Age restrictions require at least one occupant 55 or older, with no one under 19 permitted to reside permanently.
