Carillon Club is a gated 55+ active adult community in Naperville, Illinois, tucked on the west side of town a half-mile west of Route 59 along 95th Street in Will County. Originally launched in 2006 by Cambridge Homes and completed by D.R. Horton in 2017, it was one of the first true active-adult communities built inside Naperville itself — a rarity, since most Chicago-area 55+ developments sit much farther out in the exurbs. That address is the community's single biggest draw. Residents get downtown Naperville's award-winning Riverwalk, restaurants, and shopping within a five-mile drive, while everyday essentials (Jewel-Osco, Aldi, Biaggi's, Andy's Frozen Custard, banks, and a movie theater) sit right at the 95th & Route 59 intersection less than a mile from the front gate. The neighborhood is built around an 18,000-square-foot clubhouse that serves as the community's social engine. Inside you'll find an indoor lap pool and spa, an aerobics and dance studio, a fully equipped fitness center, a grand ballroom with catering kitchen, billiards, a library, a computer lab, and hobby and craft studios (the ceramics room includes kilns). Outside the clubhouse are an outdoor pool, a children's pool for visiting grandkids, tennis courts, bocce courts, a community garden, a gazebo, walking paths, and a 3-hole golf course that the resident Carillon Golf Club somehow manages to play as nine on Sunday mornings. Home options span 23 floor plans across three product types: single-family ranch homes (roughly 960 to 3,300 sq ft), attached townhomes (1,400 to 2,600 sq ft), and condominiums (960 to 1,370 sq ft). Residents frequently mention the construction quality — 2x6 exterior walls were used throughout, which is unusual for this segment. Popular models include the Nicklaus ranch townhome, the Monte Carlo ranch with full basement, the Greenbriar, and the Clark. Homes feature open-concept layouts, sunrooms, patios, and heated sunrooms on many plans. The HOA covers lawn care, mulching, snow plowing, water, sewer, trash removal, and common-area maintenance, with monthly fees ranging from $313 to $619 depending on product type. Property taxes run high by national standards — roughly $8,900 per year on average — which is typical for Naperville and Will County. The social life is the real differentiator. A full-time activities director coordinates a packed calendar: Oktoberfest, St. Patrick's Day parties, a summer concert series, a New Year's Eve party, and an annual summer pig roast. Bus trips regularly fill up — residents have gone to French Lick, Indiana for the eclipse, to Cubs games, to downtown Chicago theater, and to area casinos. Established clubs include bocce ball, ceramics, cocktail hour, euchre, men's and ladies' golf, mah jongg, Mexican Train dominoes, Red Hat Society, a men's breakfast club, a card club, and a community garden group, plus aerobics, yoga, Pilates, and water exercise classes. Residents describe it as genuinely diverse in age — "young 55-year-olds" working part-time or volunteering alongside longer-retired neighbors — and the "you can be involved or do nothing" ethos comes up repeatedly in reviews. The trade-offs worth knowing: downtown Chicago is a 40-mile drive, and the Route 59 Metra station is a 6-mile drive north (about an hour's ride into the city from there), so this is not a walk-to-transit community. A proposed closer Metra stop has been discussed but not built. Rush Copley Medical Center sits four miles away for emergency care. For buyers who want Naperville's schools, dining, and infrastructure without moving to the outer suburbs — and who want an established, socially active 55+ community — Carillon Club has held a strong reputation for nearly two decades.
