Symphony Village at Centreville is an award-winning 55+ active adult community on Maryland's Eastern Shore, tucked into the charming small town of Centreville in Queen Anne's County about 18 miles from the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Developed by Caruso Homes beginning in 2003 and completed in 2016, the community sits on roughly 140 acres — including about 62 acres of preserved open space with woodlands, wetlands, three ponds, and miles of walking trails — and is home to 395 single-family homes and roughly 700 residents. The community has earned three national awards from the National Council on Senior Housing, including 'Best Active Adult Community in the Country,' and the recognition shows in the scope of the on-site amenities. The centerpiece is the 13,800-square-foot Symphony Club, an exclusive resident-only clubhouse that feels bigger than the community size would suggest. Inside you'll find a state-of-the-art fitness center, aerobics and dance studio, indoor pool, grand ballroom, grand music room (used for concerts and recitals), billiards room, card room, arts & crafts studio, computer room, Wall Street room, conference room, catering kitchen, library, café, lounge, and locker rooms. Outside the clubhouse, residents enjoy an outdoor pool and patio, two tennis courts, three bocce ball courts, shuffleboard, horseshoe pits, a putting green, a picnic pavilion, a gazebo, a community flower garden, a playground for visiting grandchildren, and the walking trails that wind around the three community ponds. Social life is a defining feature. A full-time activities director organizes a deep calendar of clubs, classes, and trips, with dozens of active groups — bridge, Mah Jongg, canasta, poker, bingo, Aqua Zumba, Bible study, bird club, knitting, biking, American Legion Riders, a Lunch Bunch, Bikes & Burgers, Lifestyle Committee events, regular movie nights, and day trips to Eastern Shore towns like Cambridge, Snow Hill, and Berlin. Residents describe the vibe as 'cruise ship-style' activity paired with a genuine small-town community feel. Caruso Homes built 13 single-family floor plans ranging from roughly 1,401 to 3,320 square feet, designed around main-level living with open floor plans, two-car attached garages, and the option for sunrooms, lofts, finished basements, and fireplaces. Homes have two to four bedrooms and are resale-only at this point, since the community is fully built out. As a nice perk, Symphony Village homeowners are entitled to use the facilities at the nearby Hunters Oak Golf Club and recreational opportunities at The River Plantation, which include golf, yacht rentals, sporting clays, fly fishing, and a clubhouse. The location is a big part of the appeal. Centreville itself is a historic Eastern Shore town with a walkable downtown, the Centreville Wharf and 450-foot boardwalk on the Corsica River, Millstream Park, and the Queen Anne's County Fair each summer. The community is close to Chestertown, Kent Island, Easton, and St. Michaels, with the Delmarva Peninsula beaches a reasonable drive away. Annapolis is roughly 30 minutes west across the Bay Bridge, and Baltimore and Washington, D.C. are both accessible for day trips. Water-focused hobbies — fishing, kayaking, boating — are central to Eastern Shore life, and residents take full advantage.
