Pinehurst Trace is an established 55+ community set in the heart of Pinehurst, North Carolina — one of America's most celebrated golf destinations. Developed between 1985 and 2017, the community is intentionally small-scale, with just 225 single-family homes, all available on a resale basis. The homes are all-brick with vinyl trim, designed around a handful of two- and three-bedroom floor plans ranging from roughly 1,300 to over 2,400 square feet. Every home features main-level living, which is a major draw for buyers who want to age in place without stairs. Older homes have attached one-car garages; newer homes on the community's later phases feature two-car garages. Life in Pinehurst Trace is built around the 7,000-square-foot clubhouse — the true social hub of the neighborhood. Inside you'll find a great room used for parties and community gatherings, two meeting rooms, a large well-equipped catering kitchen, a lending library, a TV/game/billiards room, an exercise facility, and a regularly staffed beauty and barber shop. Outdoors, residents enjoy a swimming pool, tennis and pickleball courts, shuffleboard, and horseshoe pits. A full-time activities director keeps the calendar full, organizing monthly catered dinners, potlucks, holiday parties, monthly night-outs at local restaurants, golf outings, card tournaments, educational programs, and picnics. Several active resident committees run the social side of things, which gives Pinehurst Trace the feel of a tight-knit neighborhood rather than a big anonymous development. The HOA is a significant reason buyers choose Pinehurst Trace. Monthly dues cover year-round yard and grounds maintenance handled by a full-time landscape crew, plus power-washing and exterior house painting on a rotating schedule, and roof replacement on a lifecycle basis. That level of exterior coverage is unusual for a community in this price range and effectively eliminates the big recurring homeownership projects that most single-family owners deal with. Residents can still personalize their own flower beds and gardens within their property lines. Location is a huge part of the appeal. Pinehurst Trace sits in the Sandhills region of central North Carolina, within the Village of Pinehurst — a compact resort town famous for hosting multiple U.S. Opens and home to the Pinehurst Resort and its nine courses. The broader Sandhills area contains more than 40 golf courses within a 15-mile radius, so even residents who aren't members of a private club have deep public and resort-play options at their doorstep. FirstHealth Moore Regional Hospital, Sandhills Community College, and Moore County Airport are all less than five miles from the community. The adjacent town of Southern Pines — with its historic downtown, horse farms, and Amtrak station — is a ten-minute drive. Raleigh-Durham International Airport and the Research Triangle are roughly 80 minutes northeast, and Charlotte and Greensboro are each about two hours away, giving residents straightforward access to major medical centers, airports, and big-city amenities without the cost or congestion of living in them.
