Patriot Estates is a 55+ active adult community in McHenry, Illinois, tucked into a quiet corner at Bull Valley Road and Crystal Lake Road about 60 miles northwest of downtown Chicago. Developed by Cunat Inc. starting in 2007 and substantially built out by 2023, the community is intentionally intimate — just 201 ranch-style homes split across two distinct neighborhoods: the Manors, with 100 attached duplex-style homes, and the Residences, with 101 single-family homes. That scale is part of the appeal. Patriot Estates feels more like a tight-knit neighborhood than a sprawling resort community, which suits buyers who want low-maintenance living without the crowds and fees of a large master-planned development.
