Leisure Glen is a gated, self-managed 55+ community of 646 homes set on 100+ acres in Ridge, New York, on Long Island's scenic North Shore in Suffolk County. The newest of the three Leisure-branded communities on Long Island (alongside Leisure Village and Leisure Knoll), Leisure Glen was built in phases between 1985 and 2010 and offers a mix of detached single-family homes and semi-attached ranch-style dwellings ranging from roughly 1,140 to 1,685 square feet. Homes are one level with central air, gas heat, and one- or two-car garages. Popular models include the Maidstone (the largest design), Augusta, Bristol, and Greenport — most offer 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, private patios, and attached garages. The centerpiece of community life is a 15,000-square-foot clubhouse that residents affectionately describe as feeling like a country club. Inside, a full 350-person auditorium with professional stage and lighting hosts theater productions, community meetings, catered parties, holiday celebrations, costume balls, bingo, computerized horse races, and movie nights. The clubhouse also features a fitness center, library, music room, business center, card room, billiards room, multi-purpose rooms, and dedicated hobby studios for ceramics, lapidary, arts & crafts, and sewing. A full-time activities director plans a packed calendar of events, and some programs are even broadcast on the community's in-house TV channel for residents who prefer to watch from home. Outside, the Olympic-sized outdoor pool and hot tub anchor summer social life, surrounded by pool parties and barbecues. Sports facilities include two tennis courts, pickleball courts, four bocce courts, four shuffleboard courts, and horseshoes. A mile-long lighted Paseo walkway winds through the community, and residents benefit from free community bus service to nearby shopping and outings. The 24-hour guard-gated entrance and emergency response system give residents strong peace of mind, and the self-managed HOA prides itself on more than 30 years of operation without a special assessment. The monthly HOA includes lawn maintenance, snow removal, trash, cable TV, gate-guard security, and common-area upkeep — a meaningful value in the Long Island market. Active social clubs span American Legion Post 352 and Women's Auxiliary, bingo, bocce, book club, bowling, bridge, ceramics, Club One, computer club, garden club, golf, aerobics, and more. Socially the community is warm, tight-knit, and very active — it's the kind of place where neighbors know each other and the clubhouse is buzzing most days. Location is a major draw. Leisure Glen sits just off William Floyd Parkway, minutes from Tanger Outlets in Riverhead, North Fork Wine Country, Tallgrass Country Club (directly across the street), Smith Point County Park beach on the Atlantic, and Wildwood State Park on Long Island Sound. The Hamptons, Montauk, and Shelter Island are an easy drive east, while Port Jefferson Village (ferry to Connecticut) lies to the west. Manhattan is roughly 65 miles away, accessible via LIRR from Yaphank, Port Jefferson, or Ronkonkoma stations.
