Woodside

Woodside is a 164-home active adult community for ages 55+ built by Landed Gentry Homes, a family-owned Pacific Northwest builder established in 1979. Located on a hilltop in Mount Vernon in the heart of Washington's Skagit Valley, the community was started in 2015 and is now in its final phases — fewer than a dozen homesites remained as of the latest builder reporting, with completion expected around 2026. Homes are detached, craftsman-style, single-family designs with a strong emphasis on single-level living. Floor plans have ranged from roughly 1,299 to 2,800 square feet (most commonly 1,621–2,200 sq ft) with two or three bedrooms, two to three baths, and attached two-car garages. Architectural details include covered front porches, vaulted and nine-foot ceilings, partially fenced and fully landscaped yards with irrigation, and 30-year composition roofing. Interiors are finished with granite slab countertops, Aristokraft cabinets with dovetail drawers, hardwood flooring in kitchens and entries, step-in showers, walk-in closets, and main-floor primary suites. Many homes are stepless. Two home collections have been marketed: The Reserve (more compact plans up to ~1,802 sq ft) and the Alpine View Collection (up to ~2,800 sq ft with optional bonus rooms and lofts). Amenities are intentionally modest and community-focused rather than resort-style. The centerpiece is a community lodge used for social events, private parties, concerts, and happy hours. Outside the lodge, residents gather around a fire pit and a games court outfitted for bocce ball, horseshoes, and cornhole. Throughout the neighborhood, a large central park and smaller pocket parks provide landscaped green space, mature trees, and paved sidewalks and walking paths that make the community highly walkable. The HOA handles full front and back yard maintenance plus all common-area landscaping, giving residents a genuinely low-maintenance lifestyle. Location is a major selling point. Woodside sits in a quiet hilltop setting just off I-5, within walking distance of Eaglemont Golf Course and about three miles from historic downtown Mount Vernon, home to the annual Skagit Valley Tulip Festival, Main Street shops, restaurants, breweries, and wine bars. Daily needs are close: Safeway, Haggen, the Skagit Valley Food Co-op, Costco, and Target are all a short drive, as are Skagit Valley Hospital, Skagit Regional Clinics, and multiple pharmacies. Seattle is about 70 minutes south, Bellingham about 30 minutes north, and Sea-Tac International Airport roughly 90 minutes away. The Skagit Valley itself — known for tulip fields, farmland, and water views toward the San Juans and Cascades — gives residents an unusually scenic Pacific Northwest backdrop for retirement.
