Providence Point is the Pacific Northwest's premier 55+ community, spread across 161 rolling acres of natural and landscaped beauty in the Cascade foothills of Issaquah, Washington. Overlooking Lake Sammamish and the scenic Issaquah valley and bordered by Laughing Jacobs Creek, the community comprises 1,008 condominium homes arranged into seven distinctive villages, each with its own architectural personality — from vintage-cottage-inspired duplexes to Northwest Contemporary mid-rise condos. Developed by the Swanson-Dean Corporation between 1984 and 2004 (with some final buildings completed as late as 2007), Providence Point offers more than 50 different floor plans ranging from 650 to 2,825 square feet, so residents can right-size into anything from a compact one-bedroom flat to a spacious townhouse-style home. The community is governed by a nine-member Umbrella Board, and each village also elects its own board to manage village-specific policies, architecture, and budgets — a structure that gives every section a sense of identity while keeping the 161-acre campus cohesive. Common to all villages are miles of paved and natural walking trails, beautifully maintained landscaping, and easy walking access to the central amenity core. The amenity package is unusually robust for a condo community in the Seattle area. The main Clubhouse features an indoor pool, spa, and well-equipped fitness center with aerobics and dance studio. Town Hall hosts meeting rooms, classes, and larger events, while two additional Community Buildings house the library and gathering spaces — four community centers in total. Outside, residents enjoy an outdoor pool, tennis courts, pickleball courts, bocce, shuffleboard, a putting green, a sport court, a community pea patch garden, and the on-site Bistro restaurant for casual dining. Fishing and boating are available just down the hill at Lake Sammamish, and Lake Sammamish State Park sits immediately adjacent to the community with 531 acres of beaches, trails, and recreation. Social life is driven by a full-time activities director and a calendar that has earned regional Best Activities recognition. Signature events include the Annual Art Sale, Annual Book Sale, Oscar Night party, Fourth of July picnic, White Elephant Sale, Photography Show, Casino Night, Monday Happy Hour, ladies' breakfasts, and village-level socials. Interest-based groups range from the Book Club, Bridge, Billiards, and Food & Wine Society to quilting, drama, art, and the Communiversity continuing-education program. Fitness classes include yoga, Zumba, aquatic therapy, and water aerobics. The community also runs a dedicated shuttle bus to Seattle for shopping, theater, and day trips. Security is a defining feature: the community is fully gated with 24/7 on-site Safety Services — rare among Northwest active-adult communities. Monthly HOA dues run roughly $656 to $730 depending on village and unit, and notably include water, sewer, garbage, internet, cable TV, exterior maintenance, landscaping, snow removal, and common-area upkeep, meaning most residents' only utility bill is electric (PSE). Location is the other headline. Providence Point sits just off the I-90 Mountain-to-Sound Corridor, roughly 20 miles from downtown Seattle and 30 miles from Sea-Tac International Airport. Swedish Hospital Issaquah is about five minutes away, and Target, Costco, Lowe's, a cinema, and a range of restaurants are within a short drive at the adjacent Pickering Place and Issaquah Commons. Historic downtown Issaquah, Cougar Mountain and Tiger Mountain parks, and Snoqualmie Pass ski areas are all close by, and ferries to the Olympic Peninsula are a manageable drive. With home prices ranging roughly from the mid-$300Ks for smaller one-bedroom flats up into the $700Ks and above for larger townhouse-style units, Providence Point delivers a genuinely walkable, amenity-rich, lock-and-leave 55+ lifestyle in one of the most desirable corners of the Puget Sound region.
