Jubilee (often referred to as Jubilee at Hawks Prairie) is a resort-style 55+ community in north Lacey, Washington, set between the commercial heart of Lacey and the shores of Puget Sound's Nisqually Reach. Construction began in 2004 with local builder Jenamar Homes and has continued under Shea Homes and Century Communities, with plans calling for roughly 1,100–1,120 homes at build-out. New construction is still available, and the neighborhood has matured into one of the largest and most active 55+ communities in the Pacific Northwest. The community is laid out in more than a dozen named sections — Bainbridge, Camano, Vashon Glenn, Mercer Crest, Clark's Landing, Cypress Cove, Pearl Crossing, Orcas Ridge, Fox Run, Anderson Pointe, Whidbey Passage, Woodland Cove and Eagles Bluff — each with its own floor plans and price points. Homes are primarily single-story ramblers with a few two-story plans mixed in, ranging from roughly 1,083 sq ft one-bedrooms to 3,400+ sq ft four-bedrooms, with the average home being a two-bed/two-bath at about 1,788 sq ft. Many homes back up to or look out over The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie, and some of the premium lots capture views of Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound. The heart of Jubilee is The Lodge, a 26,000 sq ft resident-only recreation center in the Bainbridge section. Inside, residents have an indoor saline pool and spa, full fitness center with classes, sauna, a grand ballroom with dance floor and stage, library, coffee bar, billiards room, card rooms, craft rooms, game rooms and multipurpose meeting rooms. Outside, there are tennis, pickleball, bocce/petanque and basketball courts, outdoor patios and BBQ areas, and an extensive trail system — including a private 2.3-mile community trail that winds through wetlands and old-growth forest to a mile-long private beach on Puget Sound. The social scene is one of the things residents talk about most. Over 80 clubs and groups meet through The Lodge — everything from line dancing, water aerobics, bingo, bridge, bunco and canasta to book clubs, travel clubs, writers' groups, chorus, photography, painting, garden clubs, culinary and dining clubs, golf clubs, billiards, and organized community parties, dances and shows. Adjacent to the community, The Golf Club at Hawks Prairie offers 36 holes of championship public golf across two distinct 18-hole courses — The Links and The Woodlands — with discounted rates for Jubilee residents (the course is not owned by the HOA). Location is a big part of the pitch. Jubilee sits just off I-5 exit 111, about 10–20 minutes from downtown Olympia, an hour from Tacoma, Seattle and Sea-Tac, and about two hours from either the Pacific coast or Mt. Rainier National Park. Tolmie State Park and the Billy Frank Jr. Nisqually National Wildlife Refuge are just minutes away, and central Lacey's shopping and medical district — Costco, Cabela's, Walmart, Safeway, Fred Meyer, Trader Joe's and the Hawks Prairie commercial corridor — is a mile south. It is not a gated community. Residents note proximity to Joint Base Lewis-McChord brings occasional aircraft and training noise, and that Lacey's building boom has added nearby warehouses, schools and new housing — trade-offs for the convenient location.
