Esplanade at Sommers Bend is Taylor Morrison's boutique 55+ active adult enclave tucked inside the award-winning Sommers Bend master-planned community in Temecula, California — the heart of Southern California wine country. With just 151 single-family homes, the neighborhood offers an intimate, tight-knit feel while still giving residents full access to the broader Sommers Bend lifestyle: 8 miles of multi-use trails, 181 acres of preserved open space, the 21-acre Sports Ranch park, and the main Sommers Place clubhouse. This was Taylor Morrison's first-ever Esplanade-brand community on the West Coast when it launched in late 2020, bringing the signature resort-style concept (refined across 19 Florida Esplanade properties) to Temecula. Homes range from approximately 1,787 to 2,574 square feet across seven floor plans in two collections — the Arise Collection (smaller single-story and single-story-plus-loft plans) and the Weston Collection (larger plans with three-car garages and optional bonus rooms). Layouts offer 2 to 4 bedrooms, 2 to 3.5 bathrooms, and attached two- or three-car garages. Buyers could choose from three architectural elevation styles: American Farmhouse, French Cottage, and Prairie. Interiors feature open-concept great rooms, gourmet kitchens with large islands and walk-in pantries, owner's suites with walk-in closets and double vanities, and private patios. Select plans include fireplaces, dens, lofts, optional kitchenettes, and downstairs en-suite guest rooms with private entrances. Construction ran from roughly 2021 through 2023 and the community is now sold out — homes are available on the resale market only. The centerpiece of life here is the private Esplanade Resort Campus, an amenity center reserved exclusively for residents 55 and better. It includes a resort-style pool and spa, an expansive sun deck with a fire pit, a state-of-the-art fitness center with cardio and weight equipment, craft and hobby studios, a grand gathering room, a game room with billiards and board games, a library, a demonstration kitchen, outdoor patios with barbecues, and multi-purpose meeting rooms. Outside, dedicated pickleball and bocce ball courts get daily use, and the grounds are landscaped with mature olive trees and palms. A full-time Lifestyle Manager keeps the calendar packed — past activity calendars have included water aerobics, zumba, walking groups, ping pong, karaoke and cocktails nights, book club, American mahjong, Taco Tuesday, Wine Wednesday, game nights, wine classes, potlucks, dance classes, and bible study. Amenity areas are open 6:00 AM to 11:00 PM daily via fob access. Beyond the age-restricted clubhouse, residents tap into the rest of Sommers Bend — the main Sommers Place clubhouse with its bar, coffee kiosk, event barn, junior Olympic lap pool, leisure pool, and wellness center; equestrian trails; and the Sports Ranch's basketball, baseball, and soccer facilities. Location-wise, the community sits in northern Temecula just minutes from the Temecula Valley Wine Country and its 40+ wineries, a short drive from historic Old Town Temecula (restaurants, breweries, shops, community theater), and easy I-15 access that puts San Diego, Orange County, and Palm Springs each within about 90 minutes. For everyday needs, Vons, Sprouts Farmers Market, Trader Joe's, CVS, and Walgreens are all close by, and Temecula Valley Hospital and UC San Diego Multi-Specialty Clinic handle medical care. The result is a small, luxury-tier 55+ neighborhood with big-community amenities — a rare combination in Southern California, where age-qualified housing remains in short supply.
