Crestwood Village is an established 55+ community in Frederick, Maryland with a mix of home styles, a packed social calendar, and a location that puts residents less than two miles from historic downtown Frederick and about an hour from both Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Developed between 1979 and 1999, the community is made up of 523 privately owned homes arranged around Crestwood Boulevard. South of the boulevard sit the 467 age-restricted residences — 127 detached single-family homes, 292 duplexes, 24 quads, and 24 condos — with entrances off Crestwood Blvd and New Design Road. North of the boulevard is a small, non-age-restricted section of 32 townhomes and 24 condos designed for families, which is why the community markets itself as "mostly 55 and over" rather than a strict 55+. Life here revolves around a large central clubhouse that functions as the community's living room. Inside, residents have a fitness center with cardio and weight equipment, locker rooms with saunas, a library, a computer room, a billiards room, table tennis, a catering kitchen, a banquet/multi-purpose room, and several meeting rooms for clubs and events. Both indoor and outdoor pools keep swimmers happy year-round, and a patio off the outdoor pool is a favorite gathering spot in warm weather. Outdoor amenities include tennis courts, pickleball courts, shuffleboard, horseshoes, a nine-hole miniature golf course and putting green, and walking paths through open green space where residents regularly spot deer. A full-time activities director keeps the calendar full. Residents rotate through aerobics, yoga, Zumba, line dancing, and EZ Exercise classes; bingo, bridge, Mah Jongg, Scrabble, hand and foot, and card games; ceramics and craft clubs; a bookmobile; the Folk Time Strummers music group; pool and ping-pong tournaments; monthly guest speakers; food truck nights; potluck dinners and holiday parties; and organized day trips, bus tours, and cruises where residents "just pay, pack, and go." A community bus makes scheduled runs to the mall, grocery store, and food bank, and an overnight security patrol provides peace of mind. Monthly HOA dues cover lawn care, leaf and snow removal, curbside trash and recycling, basic cable, exterior maintenance, and the security patrol. There are no city taxes, which buyers consistently flag as a meaningful advantage in Frederick. Homes are fee-simple (not a CCRC and not rental-only). Attached homes typically offer 900 to 1,332 square feet with one or two bedrooms, one to two baths, and a one-car garage, while detached single-family homes range up to roughly 3,300+ square feet. Recent sales over the last year have spanned roughly $240K for smaller attached homes to $465K for larger detached homes, with a median around $275K. Location is the other quiet strength. Crestwood Plaza sits directly across the street with a Food Lion, Rite Aid, and bank; Frederick Crossing and Westview Promenade (Costco, Best Buy, Kohl's) are five minutes away; historic downtown Frederick with Carroll Creek Promenade, the Weinberg Center for the Arts, and dozens of independent restaurants is under two miles out. I-270 and I-70 are minutes from the entrance, Frederick Health Hospital is nearby, and BWI is about an hour away. For buyers who want affordable, low-maintenance 55+ living with real social infrastructure and easy access to both rural Frederick County and the DC/Baltimore metros, Crestwood Village is a well-priced, well-run option.
