Bald Eagle Commons is a well-established 55+ active adult community tucked into the hills of West Milford, New Jersey — an area known locally as the "heart of the highlands." Developed between 1995 and 2005, the community consists of 463 low-maintenance homes across seven three-story condominium buildings plus 39 detached townhomes along Richmond Road and Lafayette Street. Each building is designed with old-world Colonial Williamsburg-inspired architecture, featuring horizontal siding and gable roofs that complement the wooded, hilly surroundings. The social and recreational heart of the community is the two-story Mary Haase Grange Hall, a dedicated recreation center housing a main event hall, activities office, media center/movie theater, game room, card room, billiards room, arts and crafts studio, library, and a well-equipped exercise room. A full-time activities director keeps the calendar packed with more than 10 hours of weekly programming — aerobics, yoga, Zumba, aquacise, Tai Chi, trivia, ice cream socials, bi-monthly hikes, and weekly golf outings. ShopRite, Walgreens, restaurants, and banks are less than two miles away, Route 23 is under eight miles out, and New York City is about 45 miles east. Newark Liberty International Airport is roughly an hour's drive.
