Prescott Lakes is Northern Arizona's premier master-planned community, spanning roughly 1,100 acres of high-desert landscape at about 5,200 feet elevation, just 10 minutes from historic downtown Prescott. With approximately 1,300 homes spread across 14 distinct neighborhoods — a mix of gated and non-gated — the community offers an unusually wide range of housing: inexpensive condos, low-maintenance attached townhomes, mid-range single-family homes, and luxury custom estates, with prices that span from the $300Ks into the multi-millions. New construction is still ongoing on available homesites, and most existing homes were built after 2000 to modern energy-efficiency standards. Prescott Lakes is also recognized as a FireWise community by the NFPA. The community is organized around The Club at Prescott Lakes, co-owned by the Prescott Lakes HOA and Arnold Palmer Golf Management. The Club's centerpiece is a 210-acre Hale Irwin–designed 18-hole championship golf course that winds through the natural desert landscape and is home to antelope, jackrabbits, coyotes, and roadrunners. The course features six tee boxes, a large driving range, a short-game practice area, and a putting green. Adjacent to the golf clubhouse — which houses The Grille restaurant, a bar, pro shop, ballroom facilities, and an outdoor terrace overlooking the 18th fairway — is a roughly 12,000-square-foot Athletic Club. Amenities there include indoor and outdoor pools with a spa, tennis and pickleball courts, a state-of-the-art fitness center, aerobics and dance studio, hobby and game rooms, arts and crafts studio, library, meeting rooms, and a massage center. The Athletic Center offers around 35 aqua-fit and aerobic classes each week, including Aqua Fit, Barre, Cardio Dance, Power Pump, Yoga, Tai Chi, and Zumba. Homeownership at Prescott Lakes requires an Athletic Club membership, which covers social, fitness, pickleball, and tennis access; golf is available through a separate, optional membership. HOA dues include a Master Plan fee and a neighborhood-specific fee that varies by section, and there is an initiation fee calculated at roughly 0.5% of the home's sales price. A full-time activities director coordinates social clubs and special interest groups including cribbage, game nights, gardening, line dancing, Mah Jongg, ping pong, trail volunteers, travel, and a walking group. The community also includes several parks, a gardening area, basketball and sand volleyball courts, and a network of scenic walking and biking trails that connect to nearby Watson Lake, Willow Lake, and the Solstice Mesa Petroglyphs. The setting is a major draw. Homes sit among rolling hills dotted with juniper, piñon pine, and volcanic rock from nearby Glassford Hill, with sweeping views of the Granite Dells, Granite Mountain, Thumb Butte, and — on clear days — the distant San Francisco Peaks. Prescott's mild four-season climate, with cool summers and mild winters compared to the Phoenix valley, has drawn retirees and active adults from across the country, particularly from Southern California and the Midwest. While Prescott Lakes is not deed-restricted to 55+, the overwhelming majority of residents are active adults and retirees, and the community markets itself heavily to that demographic. Downtown Prescott, Whiskey Row, Yavapai Regional Medical Center, Costco, Walmart, Trader Joe's, and Prescott Gateway Mall are all within a short drive, and the community sits roughly 90 minutes from both Phoenix Sky Harbor and Sedona.
