Cresswind Charlotte is Kolter Homes' award-winning 55+ active adult community spread across 370 wooded acres in the Mint Hill area on the eastern edge of Charlotte, North Carolina. Gated and nature-rich, the community sits just off I-485 about 25 minutes from Uptown Charlotte, 25 miles from Charlotte Douglas International Airport, and a short drive from the shops and restaurants of downtown Mint Hill. Kolter broke ground here in 2016 as its debut North Carolina community and the neighborhood is approaching completion — recent announcements flagged a small handful of remaining homesites in the Tryon Collection, with the Trade Collection continuing to sell newly built homes priced in the $700s and $800s. At the center of the community is Club Cresswind, a roughly 17,000–18,000 square foot residents-only clubhouse that serves as the social engine of the neighborhood. It houses a state-of-the-art fitness center, indoor and outdoor resort-style pools, a yoga and group fitness studio, a demonstration/catering kitchen, arts and crafts studio, ballroom and multipurpose meeting rooms, and social lounges. Outside the clubhouse, residents gather at the event lawn and on the pickleball, tennis, and bocce ball courts, and miles of walking and biking trails thread through the surrounding woodlands. Larkhaven Golf Club sits adjacent to the community, giving residents easy access to a public 18-hole course right outside the gates. The community's personality is driven by its full-time Lifestyle Director and the award-winning 'Set Yourself FREE' program, which organizes the calendar around four cornerstones: Fitness, Relationships, Education, and Entertainment. Active resident-run clubs include the Golf Club of Cresswind Charlotte, the 'Walkers and Talkers' hiking/walking club, the Photography Group, Pickleball, Tennis, Bridge and card games, Cresswind Explorers (outings into Charlotte and the surrounding region), Cresswind Cares (volunteer/giving-back group), plus wine, travel, crafts, and arts programming. The overall vibe is active but laid-back — mornings tend toward fitness classes and walks, afternoons toward pickleball and pool time, and evenings toward social events on the lawn or in the ballroom. Homes are exclusively single-family and predominantly single-level, designed around a ranch / primary-on-main footprint with optional loft or bonus-room space. Kolter offers roughly seven core floorplans (Palm, Beechwood, Cypress, Mulberry, Laurel, and others in the Trade and Tryon Collections) ranging from about 1,450 to over 3,400 square feet with 2–4 bedrooms. Every plan is heavily personalizable through Kolter's on-site Design Studio with nine exterior elevations, sunroom conversions, bonus rooms, expanded garages (including 3-car on the Mulberry), and a wide finish palette. Construction features fiber cement siding, stone accents, AristoKraft maple cabinetry, and Kolter's standard energy-efficient package. The Laurel model took Gold at the 2024 Charlotte Parade of Homes People's Choice Awards. Day-to-day convenience is strong for a nature-set community: a shopping plaza with a grocery store and pharmacy is about three miles away, Novant Health is building a new hospital directly next door to the community, and Atrium Health's Carolinas Medical Center is 25 minutes away. Charlotte itself — with its pro sports, NASCAR Hall of Fame, museums, breweries, and dining — is a straightforward drive via I-485, and the U.S. National Whitewater Center and the North Carolina mountains (Beech, Sugar, Black Mountain, Nantahala and Pisgah National Forests) are within easy weekend reach.
