Vandalia by Del Webb is a gated 55+ active adult community in Plainfield, Indiana, about 20 miles southwest of Indianapolis off U.S. Route 40. Developed by Del Webb (a Pulte brand) between 2016 and 2024, the community reached full build-out at 475 single-family ranch homes and is now sold out — all transactions are resale only. Homes were offered in two series. The Monterey Series spanned eight floor plans from 1,222 to 1,595 square feet with one to four bedrooms, one-and-a-half to three-and-a-half baths, and attached two or two-and-a-half car garages; many included optional sunrooms, outdoor living areas, indoor cafes, and walk-in closets. The Sonoma Series offered eight larger floor plans ranging from 1,646 to 2,046 square feet with two or three bedrooms, two or three baths, curved multi-level countertops, flex rooms, walk-in pantries, and spacious kitchen islands. Del Webb designed the community with aging in place in mind — wide doorways, zero-threshold showers, first-floor master suites, and well-maintained sidewalks throughout. The social center of the community is a 7,000-square-foot clubhouse exclusively for residents. Inside, you'll find a fitness center, a large gathering room with a fireplace, a multipurpose room for larger programs, and an arts and crafts studio. A full-time activities director keeps the calendar packed — book club, bridge, euchre, cardmaking, quilting, sewing, oil painting, a travel club, men's lunch group, ladies luncheon, a military group, and fitness offerings including water aerobics, Tai Chi, yoga, and Jazzercise. Outside, residents enjoy an outdoor pool and patio area, two tennis courts, four pickleball courts, four bocce ball courts, and walking trails threading around several ponds. The community borders the Vandalia Rail Trail, which connects directly into downtown Plainfield and its broader trail network.
