Abingdon by the River is a 190-home, gated 55+ active adult community in Hoover, Alabama, developed by Signature Homes as the second 55+ phase within the larger Lake Wilborn master-planned development. Construction began in June 2020 and the community is now largely built out (2020–2024), with inventory primarily coming from resales rather than new builds. Situated along the Cahaba River just off Stadium Trace Parkway, residents enjoy a rare combination of low-maintenance cottage-style living and direct access to 124 acres of riverfront parkland — some homes even have 75+ feet of direct water frontage.
